WILDSIDE 2021 is going to be a cracker in Port Macquarie-Hastings

Get ready to experience adventure!

Rego on Friday 10, Race days Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 December

The PORT MACQUARIE EDITION will take racers to wild spaces around North Haven NSW. This is a beautiful part of the north coast with plenty of waterways, coastline and forests to explore. In teams of 4 or 2,  you will be thrust into the forests, lakes and beaches of the region navigating through spaces rarely visited, encountering challenges, as you traverse demanding landscapes in all weather conditions, day and night. There is also a special solo category for the 8hr course. This is adventure racing - you - immersed in the outdoors and focused on right now - no phone, no email, no work, no covid updates. Teams will have up to 36hrs to complete the journey, navigating from checkpoint to checkpoint by foot, mountain bike and kayak. There will also be a couple of mystery disciplines in this years race just to spice things up.

You have 3 course options - 8hrs, 20hrs or 36hrs. You can race in a team of 2 or 4 + you can race solo in the 8hr. You can race with or without a support crew. However, solo racers must have a support crew and for the A1 National Series there are no support crews. Kayaks, paddles and PFDs (except for solo racers) are provided and if you need a mountain bike we can help.

Important Documents

As with any adventure there are some important documents. The first is the mandatory gear list. There is more detail on the gear page but put simply this is the gear you need to carry with you to race safe. The second is terms and conditions. There is extra information on the T&C page. These have been created so you are fully aware of the nature of event you are entering. Both documents are designed to ensure you have an incredible but safe experience.

Port Macquarie

Located on the Mid North Coast of NSW, boasting 17 gorgeous beaches, a lush hinterland, a diverse variety of attractions including the Koala Hospital, Billabong Zoo, river cruises, and a choice of accommodation from 4.5 star luxury hotels to camping by the beach. Top it off with one of the best year-round climates and a busy events calendar, it's no wonder this is one of Australia's most popular holiday destinations, and the friendly locals will welcome you with open arms.

Camden Haven

The beautiful Camden Haven is located thirty minutes south of Port Macquarie and forty minutes north of Taree. This ‘Valley of Villages’ hugs the Camden Haven River as it makes its way from the lush Comboyne Plateau to the blue Pacific Ocean. As the river meanders through this magnificent valley it passes through the villages of Lorne, Kendall, Kew, Laurieton, Dunbogan, entering the sea between North Haven and Camden Head. Bonny Hills lies to the north overlooking Grants & Rainbow beaches. Just a further five minutes north is Lake Cathie (pronounced Cat-eye) with its beautiful lake, lagoon and beaches. Further afield you will find Port Macquarie, the regions ‘capital’, with its great shopping, beaches, history and attractions. Wauchope lies to the west of Port and is a beautiful town with a range of attractions and activities in a magnificent rural setting. A key drawcard to the district is the myriad of waterways which make up the Camden Haven Inlet. Watson Taylors Lake, Queens Lake, Pilot Beach and Gogleys Lagoon are some of the natural features which are home to an abundance of marine and bird life. These waterways offer something for all lovers of water sports with fishing, boating, surfing, swimming and kayaking on offer.
